AI Detection
Whether a source routinely publishes AI-generated content.
How Veritas Checks This
We run visual analysis on images associated with a source, flagging known markers of AI generation (synthetic textures, GAN artifacts, metadata anomalies). Results are probabilistic — we show a confidence level, never a definitive verdict. Text-level AI detection is a separate check available via the main search tool.
Ownership
Who ultimately controls the outlet — parent companies, conglomerates, and holding structures.
How Veritas Checks This
We cross-reference public corporate filings, press freedom databases, and disclosed ownership structures. Where a parent chain is documented, we show it. Where it isn't publicly available, we say so rather than guess.
Funding
Where the money comes from — advertising dependency, government ties, or known commercial backers.
How Veritas Checks This
We review public disclosures, funding announcements, and documented financial relationships. We flag government-linked funding or significant ad dependency where it is on record. We do not fabricate funding sources — if data is unavailable, the field shows "Not publicly documented."
Track Record
Documented corrections, editorial incidents, and fact-check flags associated with the outlet.
How Veritas Checks This
We surface verified corrections and editorial incidents from publicly available reporting and fact-checking organizations. This is not a comprehensive audit — it flags known cases only. Absence of an incident record does not mean a source has a clean history; it may simply mean none has been publicly documented.
All checks draw on publicly available data. We name our sources so you can verify.
